Chemical Peel for Acne Scarring

Chemical peel progression! This patient had four peels to help improve her acne scarring. Acne scarring is the direct result of deep trauma or inflammation. External factors, such as picking or scratching your acne, can make acne scarring even worse. Acne scars manifest as areas of pitted or raised skin, and can occur any where on the body. Not to be confused with post acne erythema (redness) or hyperpigmentation (brown spots) which are flat, temporary changes related to inflammation that tend to resolve over time, acne scarring changes the overall texture of the skin and does not always improve with time.

Chemical peels are an amazing way to quickly resurface the skin, improve fine lines, reduce sun spots, and rejuvenate the complexion. Not all peels are the same. There are many strengths, ingredients, depths, and types of peels. Make sure you talk to your board certified dermatologist to find the best peel for you and your needs.
